WEBSITE POLICIES

I have a professional website that you are free to access. The information provided on my website is intended for educational and informational purposes only. It is not intended to replace professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Please check with your health practitioner before making any changes to your healthcare. If you rely on any of the information provided on my website, you do so at your own risk. There is no professional relationship formed by your visit to my website unless you explicitly choose to engage in psychotherapy services with me. You are welcome to access and review the information I have on my website, and to discuss any questions you may have during your therapy sessions.

SOCIAL MEDIA POLICIES

As a therapist, I believe a strong and trusting relationship is at the foundation of the therapy treatment. Through my social media policies, I seek to safeguard the trust I build with my clients. I participate in various social networks in personal and business-related ways. If you have an online presence, there is a possibility you may encounter me there. If this occurs, I invite you to discuss it with me during our sessions together and to keep the following policies in mind.

Personal Social Media Accounts

I do not accept friend or contact requests from current or former clients on any personal social media site. I believe adding clients as friends or contacts on these sites can compromise your confidentiality and each of our respective privacy. It may also blur the boundaries of our therapeutic relationship. If I discover that I have accidentally established an online relationship with you on a personal social media account, I will cancel that relationship. If you have questions about this, please bring them up when we meet so we can further discuss.

Business Social Media Accounts

I operate business social media accounts on Instagram and Substack with the intention of offering informational and psychoeducational material. I have no expectation that you as a client will want to follow my social media accounts. However, if you use an easily recognizable name and I happen to notice that you’ve followed me there, we may briefly discuss it and its potential impact on our working relationship. Please note that I will not follow you back, as I do not follow current or former clients in order to protect their rights to privacy and confidentiality. I will never share information about my clients or their sessions with anyone on any social media platforms. I do not use any social media platform as a mode of communication with my clients. If there are aspects of your online life that you wish to share with me, please bring these into our sessions where we can view and explore them together.

Interacting

Following my professional social media accounts does not institute a therapy relationship. I do not respond to comments or direct messages asking for psychotherapeutic advice or referrals. If you are interested in working together in psychotherapy, please contact me using the contact form on my website. Please do not use text messaging or direct messaging on social media platforms to contact me. These sites are not secure and are inappropriate for discussing treatment. Additionally, I may not read or respond to these messages. Please note that commenting, liking, or otherwise engaging with my social media posts may compromise your confidentiality.

Use of Search Engines:

I do not use web or social media searches to gather information about you without your permission as this violates your privacy rights.

Reviews

As a psychologist, I cannot respond to review comments due to confidentiality restrictions. I recommend that you do not rate my work with you on any website, as it has the potential to reveal confidential information about your treatment. If you have questions or concerns about our work together, or about a previously posted online review of my practice, I invite you to discuss these with me in session.

If you have any further questions about my social media policies, I encourage you to share them with me in sessions.
